Don't worry about it, it's not new - only the headset being the non-boom-mic kind is new. though it is admittedly cooler looking than other bluetooth earphone/headsets I've had my eye on. On a side note, there are ones like this (better ones exist, but I couldn't seem to find any on a quick search) that will even let you change volume and cycle songs from buttons right on the headset. _________________ Your writing hurts my eyes. heh, neat stuff for sure. Not a fan of the style, but certain things are required in the design to make it functional, I'm sure. Problem with bluetooth headphones is the same as any wireless headphones, weight and life on batteries. While bluetooth is very efficient in battery use, headphones use (constantly on while in use) can drain it a bit more yet. _________________ AKA PC Tman. XBL = x TechnoTman x

Dude, I just had a brilliant brainstorm - foam earbuds that drown out outside noise and are hooked up wirelessly to an alarm clock so you get the benefits of earplugs w/o the problems of waking up on time. Patent that ish! _________________ Your writing hurts my eyes. It's like the text came off the page and sexually assaulted my eye sockets. |

Not bad... maybe more in the style of traditional earplugs, as large foam headsets don't go so well with sleeping when people roll around etc.
You know its not that hard to patent... there's a few websites online that can do it even. _________________ AKA PC Tman. XBL = x TechnoTman x

Meh, I hate wired headphones/earbuds that require batteries for noise canceling. My big-muffs sound cancel just fine using only the 9ft headphone cable. _________________ AKA PC Tman. XBL = x TechnoTman x

and now for a review:
The Southwing BT earphones do what they say, they were (relatively) easy to set up, pairing w/ my cell phone only took about 1 min. The device can pair w/ 5 devices in total, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Took quite a bit of work to do (read about 20 min) to bind to my computer because it would keep binding to my cell phone nearby instead of the Mac. Have to turn the cell phone BT off in order for the Mac to let it work, it's not a priority system wherein whatever device needs it it will bind w/. That said, it is now paired w/ the PS3, Mac, and cell phone and it works as advertised.
Sound quality:
Definitely not as good as the more pricey Bose/Shure headsets out there, there's a constant level whisper through the speakers no matter what you do. If you turn on the music loud enough though (who doesn't anymore) and it will disappear. Signal cuts in and out occasionally (I found this more frequent if it were in my right pocket, so the BT unit must be in the left earpiece) but the incoming call system is pretty trick. When the unit gets a phone call, it pauses whatever you're doing (video/music) and lets you answer the call by extending the mic. boom, when you finish the convo, retract the boom and the music/video picks up where it left off.
Specifications:
This was important for me as my Samsung Blackjack is crap for life-expectancy. These earphones last a long time (talking in days rather than hours) of avg. use (about 2 hrs of music a day) so batt. life is not a concern. Another thing is the weight of the unit and the Southwing is very light given the technology. The whole apparatus sits behind your head like street earphone sets and feels much the same if not more comfortable.
Final word:
I agree w/ the reviews prior:
